Unexpected Guests

During construction, Big-D Signature crews had some unexpected, yet curious guests. Wyoming is home to wild animals such as elk, bison, moose, antelope, and deer. In fact, the National Elk Refuge is located just outside of Jackson. The refuge provides a winter habitat for Elk, birds, fish, and other big game animals.

Historic Roots

In 1912, Struthers Burt and Horace Carncross established what was called the Bar BC Dude Ranch in Jackson. Rather than converting the land to a conventional ranch, Burt and Carncross built a tourist dude ranch – a place where people could experience a bit of cowboy life. The Bar BC Dude Ranch would inspire similar ranches in the area. The original ranch has since been acquired by the National Park Service and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Today, the Bar BC Ranch offers spectacular views and a rich array of wildlife. The original ranch has been divided up into 20 individual ranchettes.
